AMONG TRASH AND SQUALOR SHE FOUGHT TO SURVIVE AND TO FEED HER NEWBORN PUPPIES.

Tezi was discovered 2 weeks ago by Marci, an LCHS volunteer. This homeless mama dog was wandering around an abandoned construction site that is now a trash dump. She was obviously nursing a litter of puppies somewhere out there..

She was very hungry, thirsty, dehydrated and tired. She would not let Marci touch her, however she was very shy and cute, and would wag her tail gratefully whenever her new friend came near to feed her.

For two weeks Marci went out to the same spot to feed 'Tezi' and give her water. She also searched endlessly for the puppies that she knew were out there somewhere, fighting to survive...

On Good Friday, when Marci approached the shack, she saw Tezi barking wildly off in the distance - something she had never done before.

Marci knew that Tezi was trying to tell her something. She returned later with friends Celina, Mirek and her mom, Lynn, to look for the pups. Tezi was waiting. She took them right to the spot where she had been barking, and it was the 'den' where she had been raising the puppies. No one ever would have considered that within this mess was a hidden nursery.

There they were, in a pile of old tree limbs, trash and construction garbage. FIve beautiful and surprisingly fat puppies! They were sheltered and safe from predators and had been kept healthy and happy by this incredible mama.

The pups started to peek their little noses out of the den and they picked them up one by one. Tezi stood by and watched in approval. They then piled everyone into the truck and took them to the LCHS Rescue Center. This mother did such a good job of caring for these pups with no resources - they were fat and healthy - truly amazing!

They are safely in the Rescue Center now - but we need YOUR HELP to care for them!

Our cost for EVERY DOG is $135 USD to test, vaccinate and sterilize. Thank you for your generosity.

The springtime brings hundreds of kittens and puppies that are found and brought to our Rescue Center. We do not have the resources to care for them all. With your donations we can save more of these precious lives.
